Brick Cleaning & Masonry Repairs in Old Street, London
We were delighted to complete this external restoration project on a residential block of 20 apartments in the vibrant Old Street area of London.
The objective was to restore the appearance of the building while carrying out essential repairs to the masonry, preserving both its character and long-term durability.
Scope of Works
Our specialist restoration team carried out:
- Full brick cleaning to the front and side elevations
- Isolated brickwork repairs
- Portland stone repairs
- Bath stone repairs
- Careful preparation and finishing works throughout
Following completion, the building’s original brickwork was brought back to life, dramatically improving its appearance while protecting the external fabric from further deterioration.
Overcoming Challenging Access
One of the biggest challenges on this project was access.
The rear elevation was positioned within a particularly confined space between neighbouring buildings, making the design and erection of the scaffold significantly more complex than a typical project. Careful planning, coordination and experienced scaffold management were essential to ensure safe access to every part of the building.
Despite these constraints, our team successfully overcame the logistical challenges and completed the works to the high standard our clients expect.
At Block Restoration, we regularly undertake complex restoration projects throughout London, where restricted access, occupied buildings and challenging working environments require careful planning and experienced project management.
Results
The completed project has restored the building’s original character, with the freshly cleaned brickwork and repaired Portland and Bath stone detailing significantly enhancing its appearance while extending the lifespan of the external façad.
